 look at the leprechaun!
uh-oh...it's named matt?? =p
he got his birthday book from school too!
he got to choose a book (from a pre-selected, age-appropriate lot), there's a special name plate inside, and he gets to ge the first one to check it out from the library!!
(i wonder if he'll eventually find the 3 books that were matthew's...)

getting out of the car at the LB airport...
ready to head to montana!

 bye, guys!
i'm going to miss you LOTS!
see you in a couple of days...

03-26-2013

this is matt after he caught a line drive to 2nd, for an unassisted double play.
it was his first one ever!  coach has been playing him in right field, 3rd base, and 2nd base even.  different for him, but he's doing OK.
this definitely made his day!
he walked on the first at bat, then struck out swinging.  oh well.  it was his first strikeout of the season.

03-23-2013

today, lily joined me on my first trail race ever!
(hers, too)
it was in agoura hills
they had 2 half marathons (one is a road race, while this one, the tougher course, was a trail race)

if you look really closely, on the left most portion of the picture below, you can see people...
it's around mile 8 up at the top.  miles 2-8 were pretty much uphill with almost 900ft elevation gain.
although this picture below doesn't look as menacing, if you look carefully enough, you can see the people winding all the way to the top as well.
there were many rocky portions as well as parts where we could only run through one person at a time (it was that narrow)
BUT, having said all that, it was FUN!
very different, very tough, and kind of dirty =/
i would run this again!
(my quads hurt today, the day after, btw)

i got in about 11 minutes before lily...here she is in the finishe's chute

my time, average pace, and my medal:
peter's mom texted me after the race, and i said matt was at home, but had a game at 2pm.  i think he came over about 1pm, but stayed while matthew had his game (a little weird, but ok...) he played with dashiell and brennan while matt was gone.
when matt came home they hung out some more and then when matt had to go to his dad's at 7pm peter went with him (supposedly to stay till around 9:30-10:00pm)
i'm so glad they got to hang out, it had been a really long time!  peter is at least 6 feet tall now and his voice is getting deeper...
growing up too fast!!!

matt's team had practice at the cages tonight...

03-21-2013

i headed to wittmann today to volunteer my hour.
i had shoped to talk to mr. walker about losing recess as a punishment...dahsiell (on wednesday) got in trouble for throwing sand on another kid...and he asked mom if there was something going on at home.
the loss of recess for the last 2 days had made him stir crazy.
ms. saunders was there instead (asst principal) so she listened to what i had to say, and suggested that sometimes kids have to walk the perimeter of the playground or run to the wall, etc.  i said PERFECT! that is what he needs as a punishment instead of having to sit around all day long.  he needs an outlet for all that energy stored inside him.

so anyhow, here's the fire alarm.  not the exact one (although i did go to see it, it's identical to this one, but just to the right of the boys bathroom door, inside the day care room).
no plastic cover over it, like at the high schools.  and it says LIFT.  not 'use only in case of fire' etc...
her comment to me was something like, 'it's RED, so that's the sign to not touch it, and it does say FIRE ALARM' and there's this key hole here, so that makes it official-looking too'
umm, really?  i get that my kid did wrong, but that's the reason you're giving me?  sigh.
mom said she's take me out to dinner, so i opted for sushi at a new place that opened up near the ralph's by us.  they had AYCE for $23.95 plus we had a 20% off coupon!
 here were their choices:
(aside from the 'regular' nigiri)
 we ate A LOT.

 thanks, mommy!

so this is the referral notice we got from dashiell for his fire-alarm-pulling stunt at school on monday.
=(
afterschool brenny and matt both had their teeth cleaned.
he was such a trooper!
playing tiny dentist to relieve some of the anxiety
he even got to show it to dr. caparas

 so brave!

later that evening, mom was off to bowling and derek had his interview at school, so everyone was with me at the park while dashiell had practice.
it worked out well.  matthew's practice ended right as dashiell's began (and on the same field) so matt stuck around to help again.  but i had to entertain brennan while matthew was over with the team.
it was pretty easy-going, considering all the boys were at the park!

03-19-2013

so i got a couple cards...
umm, i sense a theme.  in BIG letters/numbers =p

so immer included a couple of pics of the two of us, and a cartoon that i drew for her for one of ther birthdays!  omg.  totally forgot about those.  i used to be really into cartooning...like in the 6th grade.  i had notebooks full of cartoons that i drew.  i can still picture the notebooks i drew them in, but have no idea where they are.  pretty sure they are gone now.  sad.

inside the purse and box were a bunch of 'old' snacks that we used to eat!
(uh, except the m&m's, apparently they were included for their sheer yumminess!)

 at school...

the kids got me a new tablet!  omg!!!  i had no idea!!
the old one i use at school (7 years old) has been wonky here and there...some days not quite working at all...so they must've pitched in to get me this one, a bamboo capture!  wow!
