nana, brennan, and i headed out to get dashiell at about a quarter to 12 today...

brennan was so excited to get there. he doesn't like taking the elevator up. he MUST take the stairs.
megan and dashiell were finishin up their lunch when we got there.

brennan went to play on the carpet while we waited for dashiell.
izzy (?) had to give brennan a BIG hug before we left.
megan had too, as well.
so of course, dashiell got jealous, and had to give megan a big hug back. this picture was just second before dashiell's really big hug knocked her straight to the floor!
brennan likes to be a monkey in the elevator coming down. (it's ok to ride the elevator DOWN, just not up.)
see the little pairs of feet hanging out? they don't like their feet to get all crowded in the wagon...
such a beautiful day today, i had to take a picture of the library, too!

i finally got to see dashiell doing his backfloats tonight. this one has the turnovers. i'll try and upload the one just with the backfloats tomorrow...(it takes too long!)

the past 2 weeks or so, dashiell has been obsessed with the ds. i let him have matthew's 'old' one, and gave matthew my dsi. dashiell only plays mario kart, and is getting better at it each day.
there's good and bad to all this, as derek pointed out today...good because it'll probably save me when we fly up to montana this summer...but bad because he's glued to it like matthew's glued to his...

we stopped by borders because they were having an elmo birthday celebration.
the best part was the free hot chocolate and cookie.

a friendly, but not toddler-savvy teenager was leading the 'games', including a game of hot potato with the elmo toy. the kids didn't quite get the game. even sadder was the game of 'elmo says' after this one, where she gave directions that the 3-5 year olds couldn't get. oh well.

today was the annual jigsaw puzzle content with the city. ever since they first started it...1999? i was pregnant with matthew, i remember...we've been doing it. i think we missed a year in there though for some reason.
but this gives me and my friend karla (sitting next to me) something to look forward to each year.
ccw: me, karla, wanda, jean, mary, and jenn
all of us, with the exception of jenn, worked at sj together. mary and i left the same year (she went to haskell, but now is with me at chs) and wanda left a few years back and teaches over at csulb. karla and jean are both still there. jenn works with me, of course, but also met karla in her methods class at csulb.

we took 3rd place (again!) and finished in 4hrs 7min 30 sec (give or take a few ;-p)
wanda had to leave early, so she's not in the final picture...
we were able to use plates again this year -- i'd like to think it's because i made a comment about it the night before when they called to verify we were coming and to go over the rules. i thought it was ridiculous to disallow the use of paper plates and force us to all use those darned manila folders. sheesh! the team that finished first was crazy fast. karla and i think that if there were 3 of her and 3 of me on the team, we'd rock! or if it was just a team of 2, we'd win hands down. =D i miss puzzling with her!

this is what happened when i asked dashiell to get his little pants on this morningbrennan's library storytime class on fridays had a valentine's party today
after many weeks, he's finally deciding that it's ok to take part in the songs! yay, brennan!

dashiell had a valentines party at his school, too. daddy helped bake 4 mini cookies that i put into treat bags and attached a cars valentine with a cars pencil to it...he got so distribute his first (because his was in a nice, big red bag that i put them in!)

got a package in the mail and upon seeing the bubble wrap, said to me 'step on it'
matthew came home with some candy (after the last day of his young authors' theater -- he gave dashiell a coconut flavored dum dum. i was surprised that dashiell liked it.

this is how i found them when i came home from work this afternoon...

yesterday, after the 1/2 marathon, i walked up the street to big lots to wait for derek to pick me up. while waiting, i browsed. just as we were about to leave, derek sees 'monster jam urban assault' for sale for 18.88! i saw it advertised when we were at the monster truck jam. i had no idea we'd find it at big lots! so...long story even longer...dashiell is hooked. he is getting better at the game each time he plays. i know, i am feeding in to his monster truck obsession. hey! obsession is a monster truck, too! =P

ran the surf city half again this morning (3rd time)
it was lots of fun, GREAT weather (considering it was pouring the day before), yet i was a bit sicky. finished 2:22:17.

yesterday, derek was able to go to hyundai cerritos to buy their teaser car that was on special...4 hours later plus $5k down minus 1 dying corolla = 1 new elantra!

...and mom got some new flowers for the front of the house...

since it was raining, the home depot crafts was indoors -- before we left home, dashiell was hoping it was some car thing...and he was right!

megan had her 4th birthday party at gymboree. we had never been there before, but it sure was a lot of fun!
