actually smiling in the morning, while having to fill out his reading log
brennan's team met at The Cage for batting practice, his first time ever.
he did well, considering he's never really hit before. 2 times the first time in, and one each the two subsequent times. such a trooper!
he was smiling and totally happy that he hit it twice the first time.
i brought nathan with us, since allison wasn't able to. =)
all of these animal friends JUMPED into his pants. but not the snowman, because he's not an animal. but it can be up there at the top of this shirt.
one of my 9th graders (the same basketball player who invited me to go watch the game the previous week) brought me this shirt she received when attending a game at ucla last weekend! she said she had an extra one, so she game it to me! <3 how="" nbsp="" p="" wonderful="">i think if it's warm enough, i'll wear it tomorrow.
100,000 firecrackers were set off at the start line (there's just smoke now)
all done! it was "hot" and "hilly" were all matthew could say. ;)
in front of the bruce lee statue!
let's compare...
top picture: this year
bottom picture: last year
=) now he's truly taller than me (last year i sort of leaned over to take the picture from above)
i was just about ready to throw my computer out the window this evening.
lost all my passwords; the keychain was corrupt and somehow google chrome was corrupted too.
but a visit to the genius bar fixed it. but they couldn't retrieve the info i lost. =(
it was cooler in the beginning and a bit foggy even, but by the end, it was WARM.
i was running out of water already around mile 3. but i was not going to stop because it would add too much time! =p i knew i would only have to run 3 more miles to get more water...
my two bibs and medals!
mark (co-race director) took these pictures for us. =D
derek helped dashiell put together the 3d jigsaw puzzle globe, which should help him when he has some hw on this.
brennan put his turtle and snowman in his pants. he wanted the picture on his blog, so it won't be here. i'll put the video here, though...
kicked off my morning with a half marathon in van nuys. we were able to avoid 'jamzilla' by driving up the 101 and bypassing the whole getty/sepulveda area.
a wonderful race where we even got some chocolates at the end! yay!
2:13:48
dropped pascale off, and headed straight to matthew's away game, at magnolia.
we were up when i arrived, and then had one bad inning and lost. =(
1 walk and 1 out at the plate.
hurriedly went home, showered, and got the boys ready for practice.
look at the awesome shirts they have one! thanks to my cousin, dashiell has this orioles shirt and i got brennan a rangers shirt, too.
didn't get to leave until almost 10am (which was when they opened) so we didn't have the 'whole' day.
plus had to leave a little bit early to make sure we got home in time for brennan to get ready for practice...
let's see. what did they go on today? brennan really wanted to go on kid power tower (pull yourself up with the rope) so we rode a bunch while on our way to that one...
bionicle blaster came first because we had to walk past it on the way to lost kingdom, which had NO line whatsoever. they both rode cargo ace (airplanes) and dash got on beetle bounce, his favorite, while brennan went on dune raiders (the slides) where dashiell joined him.
they rode 'the dragon' twice (once without me) and then we walked up some more. dashiell really wanted to go to wild woods (mini golf) but i nixed that idea. it never works out as well as i would hope for. they stopped into the hideaways (playground area) for a short while. i even climbed up to see them and take a couple of pictures of them.
dashiell went on captain cranky's challenge (swinging boat) while brennan went to wait in line for flight squadron (airplanes). dashiell joined him just in time.
they even went into adventurer's club (look for the hidden keys in the room) while i waited inside the brick bros. store. of course, we had to head into the lego factory tour, which leads into yet another store. ) O.o
they both went to the driving school and did very well - staying on the right side of the road (bren: 'why??') and stopping at all the stop signs and red lights.
onto kid power tower we went. finally!
dashiell went a second time alone - but then a little girl who was also alone joined him, while i timed them. 18sec and then 14sec to reach the top. cool!
we stopped to eat some sandwiches and i grabbed a hot dog. this was the only time they bickered (thank goodness only this once!) dashiell wasn't very hungry, so he just sat and waited...
i finally got to see 'the big test' show at the fun town stage! we always seem to miss it every time i think about trying to catch the show. while there, i noticed dashiell's finger needed a new bandaid (which i didn't have. boo!) so we headed up to the front of the park, where they sold them. we passed by fairy tale brook, which was closed last november for maintenance. they totally fixed it up! so we had to stop by there on the way back. we went through twice. yay!
we also rode coastersaurus. dashiell rode it maybe 3 more times alone (there was never really a line at all) while brennan headed to the dino dig with a bucket, brush, and shovel. dashiell joined him later and they unearthed some bones!
brennan had to ride the zebra car in safari trek before we went onto fairy tale brook. they took out sleeping beauty, added in cinderella, moved hansel and gretel, and added in snow while and the 7 dwarfs.
we (mainly I) finally rested for about 45 min in duplo village playtown (playground). we were supposed to go to the aquarium (but dashiell didn't want to go) and we eventually avoided the whole aquarium by going to the big shop, which was not at the big shop (it was being renovated) but at the build and test place (which was moved somewhere else).
yup, the whole place was being worked on in so many places!
they both got some small lego sets...they were good and traffic was bad getting home. =/
but it was a GREAT day and i had fun too!
