the starting center, #57, was down for a bit.  i think he must've taken a hard hit to the chest.

so matt was called over and had to get ready.

 there he is! his varsity debut game!

 he held his block pretty good.  actually it appears that every did their job out there!

 manolo, #21, was able to make his way through with the help of #52 (and the whole rest of the offense!)

 if you look at the scoreboard in the earlier shot, we're on the 43yd line.
manolo (who is also one of my Calc BC students =)) took the ball and ran all the way for a touchdown! we were just barely into the 2nd quarter.
we weren't able to score again until later in the 4th.

side notes:
as matt was called up, his teammates (a number of sophomores, but others as well) were cheering him on because they knew he was going in for his first play!
after the touchdown, some of the players, who apparently know i'm his mom, commented how matt's first play went so well.  that you put matt in for one play and we get a touchdown!  =D

my heart was racing a million miles a minute...i was so relieved that it wasn't a play that fell apart or one where we lost yardage.  in fact, a touchdown is as good as it gets!
