 this is the weather forecast for this coming weekend in carlsbad.  not good.
reminiscent of a could've been soaking wet LA marathon last year...
this time it's the carslbad marathon.  i sure hope it doesn't really rain.  or at least not a lot.

she was signing her newest book, diverse energies, which she has a short story in...it's an anthology written about dystopian societies, but without the 'traditional' white characters.
her story is set in taipei

 his martin luther king, jr. mask that he had to finish up at home
(cut out the hair and glue it on)

 "take another picture so that you can tell it's a mask, mama!"

brennan wanted to make a face just like dashiell's, so i had to look for a (cheap-o paper plate.  thank goodness i had one!)

brennan claims his is just the same. =)

and he had to glue a piece onto his as well, which was a scrap from dashiell's

after his bath, he wanted to have a picture taken with his sheepie

 mer asked me if i could make a bag with a longer strap...so this is what i came up with...

 derek was reading a book and fell asleep.
i took the book out of his hands and his hands were still in the same place ;-)
but then the flash stirred him.  oops!

 not quite satisfied with the previous bag, i stayed up to watch the series finale of fringe, and made this rounder bag with a short strap.  the strap would have been longer, but i didn't have enough t-yarn of that last color to make it longer.  hah!
this one's actually kind of cute.

only conflict is that i signed up for the sf 2nd half (which would have given me the 'half it all medal') -- i ran the 1st half last year, and was planning on running te full in 2014 (which was another special series...)

 he 'won' a dum-dum lollipop (which he didn't want anymore after like 3 sucks on it) for being the only kid in the class who knew what month we are in and how many months there are in a year.

 brennan confiscated this bag from me because he said "i don't have any bags!" and put his panda-y bear and "stuff" in it.  =D

maui fought with his bag for about 5 minutes before i took her picture.

a couple of the new recycled t-shirt bags i finished making...

no specific person they're made for...just to keep my fingers busy whilst i "rested" over the weekend from being sick.  

i made 6 the last few days...my hands are actually a bit sore from all the pressure.
maybe should take a few days off. =p
probably can make about 6 more before i'm really out of t-yarn that i have stocked up.
we'll see.

had to go get matthew new baseball cleats (size 11!  OMG!)
and dashiell needed new ones too -- his size 1's from last year should have still fit, but his little feetsies are wide like his daddy's feet...so they hurt. =(
we had a heck of a time finding ones that aren't narrow. most of them (under armour and nike) are quite narrow.  we bought some eastons which are nice and wide!  size 2.

finally took the boys to get a haircut today =)

brennan was showing me how he loves his zebra-y, caterpillar-y, and sheepie a lot because they are his best friends.  =D

 then he told me he knew how to make a heart with his hands!

i tried to ask him where he saw that or learned it, but he couldn't tell me...

 then of course dashiell said he could too!
