July 1̶4̶ 15 & 16, 2014 (lost a day flying here...it's the 14th at home, but the 15th here)

arrival in manila!

[for all the days i'm in the philippines, i will use the date that it was for me there, even though it means i'll miss a day and will have two days for when i return on july 25th]

 the typhoon is coming...
supposed to hit us around 10am (Phil time)

uncle manuel lives on the 32nd floor of the 'laguna tower residences at greenbelt'
there are 48 floors total
he has a key fob sort of thing that you have to hold up to that black panel beneath all the floor buttons -- it allows you to only press the floor you are on, the 2nd floor (which has a breezeway to the greenbelt malls across the street) and the lobby.  it also allows you entry into the parking garage and the breezeway.  security!

JULY 16th, 2014

just one picture of a fallen tree at greenbelt.

MANY were toppled over everywhere.  debris everywhere.

stores and restaurant closed because of no power (some don't have generators, i guess?) or because the workers haven't made it in

the typhoon really only lasted for 2-3 hours, it continued to rain and be slightly windy for much longer afterwards.  but by noontime it was mostly gone as predicted)
