decided this year to not join in on the cerritos XC cow run and head out for a hilly run somewhere new.
after looking around on mapmyrun, we came up with this one. starting at carbon canyon regional park...
we actually arrived at 5:30, but because we weren't sure quite where we were running, we waited about 1/2hr for the sun to come up.
next time: no more waiting! =p
it was a hilly trail...
i forget now why we were laughing, but we were!the sun coming up over one of the hills
city of brea (i think) down to my left, and pascale making her way up one of the early hills
a super-steep downhill section is behind me (that we just ran down)
one of the only signs we saw. apparently we came through w. telegraph canyon; perpendicular-ish to is telegraph canyon (it says hiker's only, though)
we kept on going east towards san juan hill. O.o
we had initially planned on a 14-15 mi run, but it was HOT and HILLY.
we cut it short and planned to turn around after 5.5; but there was one more hill we wanted to tackle, so we added about another 1/2 mile.
turn-around, break time!
the sign outside the state park --
we could actually park there with my state park pass, but they don't open until 8am!
there's no way we could start running that late. maybe in the fall when it's not so warm.
we were lucky enough to figure out a good parking space right next to the neighborhood across the street.
almost to the car.
exhausted!
i used up all four of my 10oz bottles, and even drank some water at the water fountain towards the last mile. got back into the car, and guzzled almost the whole bottle of water.
this was taken from pascale's phone:
look at the insane elevation change!
pascale's idea ;-)
dashiell working hard on his homework!
