we took the red-eye out of lax to san salvador, then onto cancun early sunday morning.
we arrived in cancun before noon.
we stayed at
casa turquesa, a little 29-room boutique hotel, located next to plaza kukulcan.
the first day we were there, we only noticed 1 other family there. in the ensuing days, a few more showed up. still, we basically had the place to ourselves. totally nice.
such personal service...everyone there seemed to know our name and room # already, anticipating us. it was nice, relaxing, and quiet.
below is the view from our first room (we changed after a few hours because the a/c wasn't working properly)

last morning in cancun.
i finally was able to get some pictures of our new room, which was a bit more 'crazy' (as nancy, the front desk person said). senor farias had some interesting wall paintings.
back at the hotel, this is room #501 (even though we're on the 4th floor). they're working on this room, which is a massive room. also has a staircase for a 2nd floor!
we took it easy...i swam in the pool, and caught some rays today

we had dinner at belle vue, and this is the view of nichupte lagoon, on the opposite side of the hotel zone
after we got back to our room, not more than 15 minutes later, we were given chocolate-covered strawberries. yummy! what a way to end our evening.
