July 25th, 2014

i basically had two july 25ths because i was flying back from the philippines.
the flight to manila left on time, and i got to spend about 8 hours in the airport waiting to go home.
i tired my best to nap on the benches, even facetimed with the boys briefly, and ate and read and napped some more.
the flight was uneventful except for a few things:
the flight was full, and there was a tourist group from china that was scattered all over.  one was sitting to my right (i was the left most seat in the center four seats of the plane).  his friend was sitting in the seat behind me and asked to change seats with me.  sure.  whatever.
the last next to me had two small children (i'm guessing not yet 2 and around 3 or 4)  the little one kept crying and moaning (plugged ears!?) and she kept nursing him on and off to keep him quiet. i think he was actually quite loud, but i made the decision days ago that i would do my best to stay AWAKE the whole entire flight home, if i could.  that way when i got home (which was to be in the evening) i would be ready to crash and fall asleep.  i was actually mostly successful.  i think i watched 5 (maybe 6) movies.  let's see if i can remember which ones:  divergent, captain america: winter soldier, winter's tale, the sentinel (i forgot i'd already seen it before),  pompeii (or was that flying TO the phil?), and i, frankenstien.
[on the flight out, i also watched 300, mr. peabody and sherman]
i had my noise-canceling earphones on, which pretty much made me unable to hear the little boy crying and whimpering all during the flight.  if i had wanted to sleep, i probably would've been quite irritated.  but since i wasn't going to sleep, i was good to go!
the only really annoying thing was the transgender black woman who was sitting in the far right seat of my row, across the aisle, adjacent to the window.  every hour or so she would open it up half way just to look outside.  it was seriously bright outside and each and every time she did it made me wince.  AAARGH!  some people are trying to rest and relax without being blinded by the super-white clouds outside!!  oh well.  at least i wasn't one of the elderly filipino couple sitting next to her.  she also got up to go use the restroom at least 3 times that i noticed...

didn't get home till maybe almost 11pm?  airport was crowded, and i had to trek from terminal 3 to terminal 5 just so derek could pick me up.  =/
i had to unpack, pack, and repack my bag for SF and his bag for us for MT...

i was tired.
