dashiell and his friend jacqueline, in line to go to class before school ;-)

afterschool with ms. okimoto, holding his two treasure box prizes
originally, he was crying because he had to clip down because caden pushed him in line, and (of course) he must've pushed back.  he was very upset, because i'm sure he felt it wasn't his fault.
ms. o says she never wants kids to leave the room crying, so she asked me to come in.
she talked to him for a few minutes about what to do and what not to do, said he's very smart, etc...
then he noticed a bunch of trash all over the floor.
i said to him he could go clean some of it up.  so he did.
then after a few minutes of him doing so, she said he was doing such a great job he could move his clip up.  he was ecstatic.
in the meantime, she was telling me how dashiell is so smart, and a different kind of kid...
that next year, his placement would be very important; he'd have to have someone who 'gets him'...she said not mrs. strong (hmm!) and maybe ms. dominguez (who is the 1-2 combo teacher this year).  but she said that we'll see.
she is just such the perfect teacher for him this year.  we talked briefly about how last year, with mrs. kargo was a very difficult year for him, that he was not given the chance to be himself and really struggled -- being in 'trouble' most days...that is was just rough.
at the end, when he kept cleaning and cleaning even after we said it was OK, she allowed him to get a treasure (he chose a caterpillar) then she said he was doing such a wonderful job, he could move to purple.  he asked to put his clip on her shirt.
[fyi: that means two prizes and is the most coveted of all.]
if you look carefully, his clip is on her shirt.
[it'll be there for maybe  seconds after we leave?  =p  but still cute.]
she did make sure to tell him that this is not going to be an everyday thing -- where he can do this sort of thing and clip up.  that it is a one-time thing.
she already knows to put a caveat in there!
so...
we <3 ms.="ms." okimoto="okimoto" p="p">

Such good news about Dashiell's teacher! Does he take his ds to school?
